Gallery Elena Shchukina is honoured to announce that we have donated one of Luke Jerram’s glass HIV sculptures to the Elton John AIDS Foundation.
The sculpture was auctioned off for as much as
£60,000 after a bidding war at the EJAF charity auction on the 23 June. Sir Elton John personally introduced the piece and presided over the bidding himself.
The Elton John AIDS Foundation is an organization that employs a variety of methods to combat HIV/AIDS-related issues. They focus on three primary areas of AIDS activism: practical prevention of new HIV infections, making medicine available to those living with HIV/AIDS, and ending discrimination against people who are HIV/AIDS positive.
We feel privileged to be involved with such a worthy organization, and we hope that the sculpture will prove a beautiful and solemn reminder of the AIDS crisis to its buyer.
We would also like to point out that we do still have several additional pieces from Luke Jerram’s Glass Microbiology series available. Do not hesitate to contact us with your enquiry.
